Well the days fly by and we see new, small unconscious things
that Donna does everyday. We delight on
them like new parents and catalog them in our memory banks. As great as they are, they still fall short
of her awakening. We wait patiently. Today there was just something about her
movements that were hard to describe, but they left us feeling that she looked
like she wanted to break through but it was not to be. We say many times a day what a wonderful
blessing it is that one of her subconscious actions is to hold hands
tight. We don’t know what she feels but
the determined way she holds and the soft caressing way she moves her fingers
is such a joy to us. The comfort it
brings us is enormous.
I feel there are a few issues that we have not told enough
about or been clear with so here goes.
Bob’s health: I have
been asked to say a little more about me instead of being the prototypical man
and remain silent. I feel no pain from
my ribs. My back has been sore but it is
difficult to tell if that comes from injury or extended days and nights in
Hospital chairs. With Donna’s move, I
have had multiple nights in my own bed and it seems to be doing wonders. I believe it is the latter (poor care). My many cuts and bruises are in the final stages
of healing and no longer represent a concern to me and to the many caregivers
who have nursed me. These nurses have
been important, as I have demonstrated a complete inability to bandage (clearly
a blind spot). I go to my doctor
tomorrow and expect a clean bill.
John’s Blog: We have
been asked why John doesn’t appear more as an author. No real reason. It could be his compulsion to serve as his
mother’s number one gatekeeper and protector, which for him is a full time job. He has done a great job. He won’t appear here till next week as he is
being dispatched for a few days to take care of some family business. Look for him early next week and more often. He has pulled some of the toughest duty and
has been a fiercely determined fighter for his mother’s needs. Those of you that know him I’m sure are not
surprised.
Donna’s Hospital Move:
I know we have been a little unclear here but part of the reason is
because while it is a great facility for her, it is less designed to
accommodate guests unless they can all gather in her room. We remain very limiting in allowing people in
and while disappointing to many, we feel it best to protect her risk of
infection specifically with her trachioscopy.
This will change quickly as she awakens and we will be very liberal at
that point as the risks disappear. I
know this doesn’t serve everyone’s desire to see her now but we are confident
it is the right choice. God willing, the
day for big hugs and visits in which she can participate, are coming. She is located at Kindred Hospital on Westview
between the beltway and Brittmore. We
appreciate all of the love, prayers and support. We will make sure all are aware when she gets
to the visit point.
Our girl looks great and encourages us everyday. She lies there as beautiful as sleeping beauty
and clearly I am no prince as a kiss has been totally ineffective. We put our trust in God and the great medical
professionals that do so much for her.
Keep the faith, and say a prayer.
Till that glorious day..
Bob
Bob, Glad to hear the move went well and that you are so close to home. Love to read of Donna's(movements)progress. It all sounds good. I'll put the word out of the new location, and of course we'll keep the prayers going. Tom C.
